Wind

Freight trains of winter wind roar brutally over grasslands and roughhouse spring buds in a lone elm tree. Yucca rosettes and thorny, twisted cholla limbs shudder amidst the onslaught, then release the frigid gusts to sound whimsical melodies in power lines stretched to the horizon. Tumbleweeds take wing on squalls of red dust. They carry seeds of spring renewal. Llano Estacado Silver Bluestem straw surrenders into sunbathed tapestries resembling ocean waves and river rapids.
