Terraglyph Lore

Terraglyphs are whimsical figures and indecipherable calligraphy, which mysteriously appear in wet soil after rainy nights on the Llano Estacado. Let’s indulge in creating a myth and conjure a story first spoken in hushed and reverend awe among native cultures of the Southern Great Plains. The lore of the terraglyphs then made its way into the roughhewn lives of white settlers and weatherbeaten cowboys huddled around cattle drive camp fires on the vast grasslands. Lend ear to the gist of the tale for it persists in the oral traditions of all people who cast shadows onto the plains.

Hear me, these are the words delivered on wings of raven and first spoken by the ancient people of the plains. The terraglyphs are joyful promises of better days ahead written by ground beetle larvae at the behest of the Great Spirit. Let all who encounter the messages refrain from disturbing the tiny hummocks of soil, lest all manner of calamity and torment befalls the people.
